  • Service to our community

Objectives

ÞIAGET COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, Abeokuta, is an autonomous private institution charged with the responsibility of providing quality higher education and encouraging the advancement of learning throughout Nigeria. We aim to prepare students with solid background that will enhance the present educational standard in terms of skills and knowledge in the pursuit of the NCE programme.

Strategies for Achieving our Objectives

  • Our approach puts learning and teaching at the center.
  • Our program is nested in the broad intellectual sweep of the Þiaget School of Education, with access to our unequalled resources as well as to the stimulating environment.
  • It is tailored to exceed all of our students’ expectations and help them achieve their highest potential.
  • Our curriculum invites our students to study across three broad strands of design, implementation, and research. The goal is to help them prepare for a leadership career in any of the many education and technology fields in which our graduates will work.

Our Uniqueness

UNESCO states: “ICT adds value to the processes of learning, and in the organization and management of learning institutions. It is a driving force for much development and innovation in both developed and developing countries. Countries must be able to benefit from technological developments.

Our goal at ÞIAGET COLLEGE OF EDUCATION is to produce well-grounded,skilled and well informed professional teachers, who will not only gain the competency as needed for their areas of specialization, but will also have the opportunity to opt for a combined quality Competency Certificate in computer literacy if desired. We believe that ICT is not only the future of our children’s education, it is the present and we are making the investment in ICT NOW. ICT in education is the key to unlocking the skills and knowledge of our future generations of young people. It is the tool for learning for the 21st century.

ICT in Education is important.

One other primary goal of our program is to develop a partnership between practicing teachers and teacher educators, working toward making meaningful connections between fieldwork and the NCE coursework. The intent is to provide a three-year NCE certification program that combines coursework concurrently with internship experince. Internship programs allow individuals to complete their teacher preparation coursework concurrent with their academic years in a paid teaching position.

The bar must be raised for successful teacher preparation programs because we ask much more of teachers today and we plan to do so through our Internship Teacher Preparation.
